Alsace, blend of four, Arthur Metz, Semi-Dry 2014
Here is one from Alsace. I was hoping for a good one but was more bang than buck.
Grape Type: Vin D'Alsace
Sub-Type: Muscat, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling
Harvest Year: 2014
Vinyard:Arthur Metz
Region: Alsace
Flavor classification: Fruity
Quality classification: AOP Alsace
Vintner: Alsace Prestige by Arthur Metz
Price: €4,99
Appraisal:
It does not have much nose, but the flavor attacks zour throat. I think there is too much blending going on here. I mean, four different grapes? If you can pull out different flavors that is great but the bite at the back of the throat is a little overpowering and the nose is almost not there. I have drank cheaper wines that were much better.
Color: Pale
Aroma: light apple
Taste: delicate tartness with a bite at the back of the throat
Style: Oak
My evaluation:
Nose(1-5): 2
Flavor(1-25): 17
Character(1-10): 4
Balance(1-5): 3
Length(1-5): 5
Total(Total+50): 81

Pfalz, Riesling, Peter Mertes KG Weinkellerei, Lieblich 2014
Wine Name: Morio-Muskat
Harvest Year: 2014
Region: Pfalz, Deutschland
Flavor classification: Lieblich (sweet)
Quality classification: Deutscher Qualitätswein
Vintner: Peter Mertes KG Weinkellerei, D-54470 Bernkastel-Kues
Price: €2,19 on sale
Appraisal:
When I first opened this wine, I did not like it at all. It seemed too dry. The next day, after it aired some, it tasted much better. Sometimes, or more often, a wine needs to breath to reach the potential that it has inside. For this wine this was definitely the case. It was on sale so I thought it was just for drinking quickly but turned out to be rather drinkable.
Color: Pale
Aroma: Green, dry (smells a little like a Chardonay)
Taste: 1st day, too dry
2nd day, much better!
Style: Crisp, Pear
My evaluation follows:
Nose(1-5): 3
Flavor(1-25): 19
Character(1-10): 5
Balance(1-5): 3
Length(1-5): 4
Total(Total+50): 84
